Here are a few social media highlights of this weekend’s wild weather and skies worldwide:
FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE: This weekend began with 22nd Winter Olympics, officially the XXII Olympic Winter Games, in Sochi, Russia. However, not all were welcomed…
TOKYO SNOW: Japan hit by heaviest snow in decades.
Severe weather kills seven people, injures 1,000 and leaves tens of thousands without electricity.
PORTLAND ICE: Freezing rain is falling all over the Portland metropolitan area, and just hours after forecasters thought the worst of 3 winter storms might depart the area, they issued an ice storm warning that lasts into Sunday evening.
“What we thought might be falling as snow is now falling as freezing rain,” said Andy Bryant, a forecaster for the National Weather Service in Portland.
MICHIGAN SNOW: People can’t help but make comparisons to other epic snow storms that have hit the region in the past.
UK STORMS: Devon and the south-west hit by huge waves. High tides combined with gale force winds and further heavy rain mean some parts of the UK are bracing themselves for more flooding.
